Henri Sokka (FI)

Sonata for Piano

I am Henri Sokka, 26 years old composer and part-time farmer from Tampere, Finland. I have a wife and a daughter and two cats. I have a small corner for composing and the possibility to compose everyday without other worries. That’s all I want from life. Besides football and skateboarding.

I like repetition. Heterophony. Polyrhytms over a strong pulse. Dark winter days, eschatology and finnish rap music. My Sonata for Piano is written in May 2013. The titles of the movements are quotes from popular culture. If you’re interested in them use Google. Otherwise enjoy the piece and make your own interpretation.

Oh yes:
I have studied composition for ten years with the following teachers: Tomi Räisänen, Tapio Nevanlinna, Juhani Nuorvala, Jyrki Linjama and Jouni Kaipainen. I spent the summer of 2013 in Berlin studying with Samuel Adler.
