Composer
Connor McLean is an American composer based in Copenhagen. He previously lived in Cardiff, Wales where he studied composition with Joseph Davies and Peter Reynolds at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and he is currently studying at The Royal Danish Academy Of Music with Simon Løffler and Rune Glerup. In all of his music Connor is concerned with, among other things, the fragile or vulnerable elements of performance and the direct perception of musical structure. His music has been performed by The Ligeti String Quartet, The Arctic Philharmonic Sinfonietta, K!art Ensemble and others.

Terrible Light was written in the winter of 2018-19 in Copenhagen, Denmark for the Ligeti String Quartet. The piece focuses on the expansion from the first note to the last chord and the resulting harmonies as pitches accumulate, as well as the gradual development of textural structures.
