Finnish conductor Emilia Hoving (b. 1994) is Assistant Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France 2020 under Mikko Franck and in 2019 held the same position at the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra under Hannu Lintu. She first attracted widespread international attention in May 2019 when she took over concerts with the Finnish Radio Symphony at a very short notice, conducting BA Zimmermann’s Dialogues and Bruckner’s 2nd symphony. Emilia studies at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki with Sakari Oramo and Atso Almila and with visiting teachers such as Leif Segerstam, Johannes Schlaefli, Susanna Mälkki and Eva Ollikainen. She began her conducting studies in 2015 with Jorma Panula at the newly founded Panula Academy, having previously studied clarinet, cello and piano. In 20/21 Emilia makes her debut with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Helsinki Philharmonic, Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne, Stavanger Symphony, Iceland Symphony, and returns to the Finnish Radio Symphony.
